Napoleon III Table

Napoleon III style” is the name that is commonly given to a 19th-century style of Renaissance Revival architecture in France, particularly in Paris. It is a sub-style of Second Empire architecture, a term also used elsewhere in the world for this style. It flourished during the Second French Empire and is characterized by its eclecticism because of the mix of decorative elements from the past. This table was purchased from a woman who was part of the resistance forces to the German occupation in 1940. Because of her efforts, she received a number of gifts, among them this piece, which dates back to 1880.
